David is a Kids Pastor and Creative Director of Hillsong Kids and has been part of the team at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia for over 16 years. He is passionate about children, the generations and leadership that makes a difference. He is the creator of the exciting ‘BIG’ Children’s Ministry curriculum and both Dave and his wife Beci are a key part of the creative teams that produce Hillsong Kids Praise and Worship albums. He is no stranger to blogging having created one of the first about Children’s Ministry in 2004 and loves music and long walks on the beach. Dave and Beci have three children: Brooklyn, Orlando, and London.

After growing up in New Zealand, they got married and headed to Bible College in Australia and never went back, which isn’t to say they didn’t want to, after all New Zealand has snow, no predatory animals and superior Fish and Chips, but they both felt God calling them to the sunburnt land and stayed. They both have a passion to see Children’s Ministries around the world flourish and thrive…

I would hope (slipping slightly out of third person) that reading this blog you will find inspiration and resource to inspire and encourage! Also a growing community of leaders committed to seeing God’s children all over the globe reached with the gospel of Christ.

  1. An exercise in transparency. I learn best by sharing ideas and teaching others, so this blog helps me do that continually and keep accountable to ‘the internets‘. If I’m not blogging, I’m not learning (unless I am completely locked down in a project or something similar).
  2. Sowing and reaping. Networking, connectinDave Wakerley with like-minded people is not just about the phone any more. If you need a mentor, get a mentoree. Help someone, send them a gift… My goal is to help and encourage as much as possible, not sit back and wait for things to happen.
  3. It keeps my family (spread around the world) updated on my life.
