New Blog

Rob’s BlogThis one snuck up on me! Rob Bradbury from Planet Shakers in Melbourne Australia. He and his team have started a podcast and a blog!

Check it out at: childrensministry1234.com

I have mentioned Rob in the past on the blog, for a nominal fee, :) ’cause he is a brilliant leader in Children’s Ministry in Australia!!

He oversees Kids R Us which is the kids department of Australian Christian Churches.

I’m not sure why he hasn’t told me about this… the only reason I can think of is that he was try to test me and my geekness‘how long would it take Wakerley to find my blog…’

Yeah that’s it.

Regardless, check out the podcast on iTunes (search for planet kids) and add the blog to your reading list.

Oh, his children’s ministry website is at planetkids.com.au Nice site with a great layout… the main page has three options… Parents | Kids | Leaders. Which is a awesome simple way to layout your website.

Last Minute Event!

If you are in Victoria or even close to Vic — Rob Bradbury has an event going that you need to get to!

REV 2007 – RX3

Friday, 4 May 2007 to Saturday, 5 May 2007
REV is a two day state training opportunity for all children’s pastors and leaders to grow in their ministry to children. Commencing on Friday night and concluding on Saturday, Rev 2007 – RX3 is looking to be a powerful two days of ministry.

It will give a fresh vision for your ministry and inspire you with ideas on how to better reach the children in your community.

But don’t just bring yourself, bring your team!

It truly promises to be two days of fun, information, inspiration, and impartation.

Pastor Rob Bradbury, the Kids R Us National & State Director, is looking forward to partnering with you and your team to do all we can to reach this generation for Jesus Christ.

God is wanting to do something big in the children’s ministries across Victoria, and He wants your team to be apart of the adventure!

Jutila Moving On?

Ah!

Sad news.

Craig Jutila has resigned as Children’s Pastor of Saddleback!

There is a messsage from Rick Warren on the Purpose Driven site. Announcing that this years PDYM is cancelled.

Excerpt:

I’m saddened to share with you that last week, Pastor Craig Jutila, our Children’s Pastor for 13 wonderful years, resigned from the Saddleback staff due to personal issues.

Craig came and spoke over here in Sydney last July at our Hillsong Conference and was brilliant! A great leader and friendly dude!

I am praying that the personal issues are resolved and Craig is able to move forward from here. I really DON’T want to speculate on the reason he is leaving, it’s not even worth the effort, but I also pray that Rick finds the BEST possible replacement for Craig!

Harry Loses Money?

The Scholastic Corporation, US publisher of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, has reported a net loss of US$ 7.7 million for the quarter that ended February 26, 2007…

Now overall the company is doing fine, but you would think that selling over 300 million books just in one series would help your companies bottom line?

No?

It’s good to live here (sometimes).

Most films are made in the USA. But since Peter Jackson began using New Zealand as a backdrop for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy it seems that studios are more willing to outsource their movie-making to other countries!

So the ‘Matrix’ and ‘Superman Returns’ we both filmed partly in Sydney Australia.

This is cool for one important reason: 1. All them juicy props have no where to live once the studio is bored with them and they auction them off to the general public.

Grays Online Auctions

Monday… I will be there, believing for no one else to turn up so I can cart off some nice stage props for our ministry.

(thank you Lord).

:)

“Why Mr. Wakerley, we haven’t seen you in a while”

Thou Hast not seen me in a while indeed.

Do I need to explain my absense?

I suppose Yes.

There has been a lot of work going in at http://hillsongkids.com over the past month or so. I stopped abruptly Podcasting and Blogging on the 6th of Dec. Which worked out well as a summer break…

There are three things that are happening at Hillsong Kids.

1. The Podcast is moving there… if you visit http://childrensministrypodcast.com it takes you too the future page for the show.

2. My old blog has moved to davidwakerley.com (here), and will focus on a little more personal stuff, and a new ministry blog will be created at hillsongkids.com with a bunch of contributors.

3. The Newsletter will be merging with a Hillsong Network list available to anyone who would like ministry leadership stuff.

So in short a lot of cool things have merged and are happening.

Do you like the redesign? let me know!

Hey, hey new episode available to integrate with your favourite musical making device.

Episode #5 – Curriculum Pt. 2

Sad story

Ted HaggardI just felt to make a comment re: Ted Haggard. I won’t bore you with details… read the press release from New Life Church if you need them.

I saw him speak at a conference here in Australia and was hugely inspired by his intelligence and insight… I can still remember his message.

Whatever the outcome, it seems that there has at least been some wrong doing on his part, I pray for his family and kids.

We as people who work with children need to head the advice from another blog I just read a few minutes ago:

Pastors, church leaders… get accountable today and save everyone some pain…

Which way did they go?

Last two days, I kinda exceeded my bandwidth from my webhost… consequence, both this blog and the podcast went offline.

Reason: Adding three more episodes to the podcast caused a flurry of download activity, causing my somewhat meager hosting account to go somewhat over its limit.

Think of it like overdrawing your credit card, but just without the interest.

Anyway, getting great feedback about the podcast, so if you haven’t listened then make sure you check it out… its what Jesus would do. :)

Episode 4 has dropped

FDA denies ban on Vegemite imports

My journalistic instinct may have been a little off from an earlier post… it seems that the US is allowing Vegemite to be sold on its shores! A victory for the free world! :)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that recent media reports that the agency had banned imports of Vegemite — a yeast spread popular in Australia — are false.

“There is no ban on Vegemite,” said FDA spokesman Mike Herndon, who said he was surprised by the media reports on a possible ban.
