Second ever weekend report.

The cut off for our earlybird registrations for Kidsfest (Annual album recording) in October finished this weekend. For anyone who has run an event like this, or VBS where registration is required, the cut-off always brings a bump to the regos, but never as much as you thought?

Sunday cheap meltabs viagra mornings are a large group, small group format. So we have a DVD teaching each week, usually filmed with myself and Nathan McLean (Primary age pastor at Hills Campus).

This weeks video was okay, didn’t engage the kids as much as I hoped, but got the point across. We need to break up the video with some more random stuff/funny bits.

Had a volunteer focus over the whole weekend (8 services), and have 6 new volunteers to follow up this week…

Met a mum who came from the local area who was at church for the first time. She said she wants her kids to come to ‘Sunday School’. There are still parents around like that!! I am believing to really connect her in with the church!

It’s always good to bring a good report, so here is the first in a series of posts about the weekend. Will be a great record of the little things (and big things) that happen each weekend.

Had a GREAT time in church this weekend.

Benny Perez from The Church Las Vegas spoke in our 5pm Service, and got to hang out with his children’s pastor Justyn Smith. Awesome dude who has been in his role since only March this year, but has great vision for where they want to go!

Announced about our new age group next year. We are introducing a pre-teen ministry at church called Voltage (more about that in a future post). cheap levitra So huge excitement about that for all our year 4/5 kids who will be a part of that in 2008.

Spent time my 11:30am Sun service hanging with our year 4 KDG (Small group – Kids Discipleship Group). Discussing the theme with them, ‘The Bible is the map to life’. Really saw some of the kids ‘get’ it as I talked about how God had led myself and my wife to Australia!

So in the interests of having something to write I shall take it upon myself to post an excerpt of it here online…

Because if I am going to put so much effort into writing the thing, it would be great if more than one person could read it

Kidsong World 07 – The Kids part of Hillsong Conference.

Conference Debrief

Event Overview: Four days/five nights. 9am-3pm. Two rallies each night; 4.30pm and 7.30pm, lots of kids!

Overall Impression: Easily the best Kidsong World so far in terms of organization and actual running of the event.

Area of Debrief: All media for conference, Worship and Creative Arts, Morning and Night Rallies (Primary Age and Preschool).

What Worked:

• Centre video screen on the main rally stage. Really helps to bring atmosphere with a huge screen on the stage.
• Trading Cards – Kids were so pumped to collect the entire set of Kidsong World trading cards (14) that they were heard to have sold them to other kids.
• Musical in the morning rallies was a HUGE success. Pulled off a great experience of all of the kids. Following the four characters each day was cool and the media was absolutely top-notch.
• Night rallies created a great buzz. The late night talk show feel was a win. Having a couch on stage to ‘interview people’ and the desk to sit behind (Leno, Letterman etc) was a really cool look. Then using the couch as a ‘best seat in the house’ idea for two kids each rally was a real winner. Next year we need snacks and chocolate for those children. Maybe even a palm branch being waved above them.
• Max and Melody show for the preschoolers was great.

What can be improved:

• Production (TV TD/Lighting/Sound FOH and TD) – we need to find out oversights of areas before conference and meet with them. Having dialog with each team leader would be hugely beneficial, especially the day program where production is needed at different times ie. Paddington and Downes teams.
• Pre-conference roles and structure for W&CA. The outworking of who will oversee the team and who will roster team members. We need to make a simple flow chart aleve generic name for the way the team will run next year.
• Reinforce name tags – so many fall off and get broken. Either look at a different style of name tag or find a way to replace each morning the sorrier looking ones.
• Plan/film our media (eg. Musical video clips) at least two months before conference. The filming of our media wnt well, but the editing took a lot longer than expected. All we need to do is move filming schedule up a bit.
• Get trading cards professionally printed. Build on the success of theseand make them business card size and professionally printed.
• Revamp points system… maybe even get rid of it. Each year we divide kids into four teams and ‘compete’ to be the best team over the week by getting points. Maybe its time to do something different.
• Make sure we communicate the need for the coms on stage for communication between stage managers, producer and MC. We fluked it this year getting them in the right place, lets do it deliberately next year.
• Make sure our stage design is communicated and we see a floor plan a month out from conference. Again we fluked the stage setup.
• We need to rehearse the preschool Max and Melody Show like the primary age musical. A couple of dress rehearsals over a short amount of time, pack them into one week, not do smaller rehearsals over many weeks.
• Make sure we have enough media for all venue. Need to have spare copies of everything, and if possible only give copies out to the teams. Label each DVD/CD on the case as well, so we know how many we need to get back.

Local newspaper coverage of the recent Kidsfest event…

The Hills Shire Times sent a reporter to cover the story… nice of them.
The picture that accompanied the story in the paper had a picture of Kirsty Thornthwaite (one of our awesome worship leaders) incorrectly labelled as Julia.

Plus a couple of other technicalities in the story that aren’t quite correct (Ms A’Bell?? Mrs, I think).

But nice of someone acai prices to show up for a positive story.

We are deep in the mixing process for Supernatural all this week, and it is sounding amazing. It was great to be able to record in our own convention centre rather than an outside venue like the last two years, and we have really captured a fantastic live sound!

This post may have a somewhat formal title but the contents will be anything but formal. God pretty much exceeded our entire teams expectations and blew us all away!

This past Wednesday the whole of Hillsong Kids for our two main worship centres and our extension services got together for a huge kidsfest and to record our third album. We had been working hard to get as many kids there as possible to make it a fantastic day and most of all did not want our church kids to miss out on the recording.

Long story short… on the day, hundreds of extra parents and kids turned up and registered for the day that morning! We had over a thousand ‘extra’ people at the event, which caused a number of things to happen:

1. We ran out of sausages for lunch and had to go out and buy more.
2. The atmosphere in the auditorium was electric!

You will see it on the DVD when it is released in early December (Australian release date, Feb 07 worldwide), but it is the most humbling and awe inspiring sight to see thousands of children worshipping Jesus.

As a team we really feel this recording is significant. Churches gathered from all over Sydney and the State of New South Wales, and thousands of children were there representing a generation of children that, by the grace of God will be followers of Christ for the rest of their lives.

Yes, the album will most likely acai berry cheap be called ‘Supernatural’, which makes a trilogy of ‘Super’ albums. ‘Jesus is my Superhero’, ‘Super Strong God’ and now ‘Supernatural’… No this was not planned But is a happy coincidence as the first track on the album is called Supernatural, and none of the other songs really stood out as a album title!

So now we have the ‘Super Series’, signing of the first chapter in our journey to resource the church with praise and worship music written for (and even by), God’s children.

Not much action here at the blog recently, will continue for a while as we record our third kids album at kidsfest tomorrow and then go straight into mixdown.

I have found the single greatest children’s ministry game that X-Box has ever made…FUZION FRENZY!!!

It combines the qualities of being an extremely simple game to control (I play it with 5 year olds) as well as being highly entertaining.  It includes more than 45 mini-games which can be played with 1-4 players.  It is a game that only last 1-2 minutes with a clear 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th display which makes it easy to rotate players quickly enabling your whole children’s ministry to be involved.

It is also a great social game for your leaders…Dave Wakerley and I have a fierce rivalry when it comes to this game.  Now usually I am not one to boast, however, after one year of Dave being the undesputed champion of Twisted System (one of the mini-games) I have finally climbed my way back from a great form slump to sieze the record by posting a massive score of 180 on twisted system!  ac buy carisoprodol I know, I know.  The word proud doesn’t do justice to the feelings I am having!!!
