Reuters Photo Scandal

Nothing to do with CM… but got me fired up. You probably have heard about some of these photos on the news. Most of us adults trust the news services, believing them to be integrous. But I think our kids will grow up differently, untrusting (rightly so) of news media… which ain’t ALL bad. (Hey, I did find a CM tie in!)

A very good point is made here; people are too gullible. It’s a shame people try to distort the news for their own purposes.

However, it is important to remember that game can be played from both sides.

The AISH website is Jewish; therefore, in this conflict, they are going to publish material that supports Isreal and discredits Hezbollah, the same way the original modifiers of the images wanted to do the opposite. I don’t mean to suggest that the information in the video is wrong, only that we should weigh it the way we should way everything else. It’s a confusing mess, but should serve as a reminder to all that we should always think critically about where news/images are coming from before we assume that it is accurate and objective.

    Too true Jessica,

Trust is a quality that must be earned. We should not be so quick to give it away.

    Dave.
